Paje Life Steppers

Our Story

Life Steppers Association is an NGO with a mission of local development in Zanzibar, an island off the coast of Tanzania. We provide education, healthcare, basic needs, assistance to work, and help for families and collectives. We teach, provide food for the poor, repair houses, collect and distribute medicine, purchase and distribute tools and equipment, and support founding of local businesses

History

2014

In April 2014 we made the commitment to develop every aspect of village life in Paje.

2015

In 2015, we involved more people and the association bought land for the ECO VOLUNTEERS VILLAGE. We helped the poor, we supported local opportunities, we developed ideas, and together with the community we achieved extraordinary goals.

2016

In 2016, we started a Fair Tourism project that is breaking the barrier between village life and tourism.

2017-2021

With the help of our volunteers and fair tourism projects our achievements include:

14 volunteers on site to provide daily assistance

2 consulting medical doctors

3 new local businesses created

A local produce brand was created

Constructed roofs, floors, doors, walls for the people in the most need

Introduction of an English class, with over 50 students in daily attendance

Purchase of food, school materials and new mattresses

Supported farmers with equipment and water systems

Created football team for children

Ensured wellbeing of kids by providing clothes, toys, food, bicycles, and safari

2022

ECO VOLUNTEERS VILLAGE [EVV]

This year we believe that we can continue forward to have an even bigger impact. With the help of our volunteers, fundraisers, and generous donators, we can help more people in Paje than ever before.

Our objectives

New facilities to welcome and accommodate more volunteers is a top priority so that we can further local development and expand our fair tourism projects.

• A small place that will allow us to grow and act while benefiting the village.

• We will welcome all travellers.

• Each room has purpose, created to support a project.

• Volunteering will remain free of charge for every Life Stepper.

• We will be economically sustainable thanks to tourism.

• We will continue to redistribute 100% of our donations.

• The EVV will be a pilot to export the Life Steppers model to other areas.

• We are a team of 5 people working together to ensure the success of this project. But to succeed we will need your support.

We value your ideas and feedback, hence we are working to create a private group to share ideas before launch of the project on a crowd funding platform.
